Spring break for Houston’s various school districts is right around the corner. Spring break is probably kids favorite time of year, however for the parents it can be a bit stressful. Trying to re-arrange a work schedule, make sure the kid(s) are okay, and keeping them entertained throughout the week long break can be a lot. There are various camps and classes, that kids can attend with the parent having to be in attendance. However, there are so many great places to go in Houston, that both parents and children can enjoy.
Sure, most kids probably are fine with sitting at home in front of the television or playing video games all day long, but it’s probably best for them to get some fresh air and actually take part in activities. Especially if the child likes to be creative or active, there’s plenty to do in Houston for all ages and all interest. Here is a list of some great, fun, affordable places kids can go this spring break season.
The Children’s Museum of Houston
A staple in the Houston museum district, The Children’s Museum of Houston, on 1500 Binz St, Houston, TX 77004, is great for kids of all ages. There’s hand on interactive exhibits and activities on every floor, including Kidtropolis, The Tot Spot, Eco Station, Invention Convention, and so much more. The museum is free from 5pm – 8pm on Thursday and they have extra museum activities specifically for spring break visitors. Learn more and plan a visit here.
Alley Play Makers Camp
A theater camp and workshop at the Alley Theaters Houston. This camp happens multiple time a here (view dates here) . Their spring break classes are March 12 – 16, 2018 and accommodate to K – 12.
Spring Break Escape at Memorial City Mall
The whole week of spring long Memorial City Mall will be hosting tons of family friendly activities, including live music and a screening of Disney’s Coco.
Art Mix Creative Learning Center (River Oaks)
This daytime art camp is perfect for creative kids. Their spring break camp/program run from March 12 – 16 and March 19 – 23. According the website the program curriculum includes: “Students will pour, build, draw, sculpt, paint and create a vibrant collection of amazing masterpieces. students will experiment with all of the art elements: color, form, texture, line and shapes, to invent and create! they will need to come in art friendly clothes and be ready to dive in to hours of hands on, skill building creative fun! in each of the two weeks of spring break camp, the process will be the same, but each student’s work of art is sure to be a unique surprise!” Find out more & register here.
Painting with a Twist Kids Classes
Our Westheimer, Midtown, Sugar Land, Spring Valley, Katy, Cypress, and Heights studios will be having all ages and kids classes available March 12 – March 25. Almost of these classes cost only $25/person and parents have the option of staying or dropping off your child/children when the class is over (based on age).
