Father’s Day is right around the corner and we know how challenging it can be to find a gift or activity for Dad that he will really enjoy. Dad’s can be picky. It’s even more difficult to find an activity Dad and the whole family will enjoy together.

He probably wants to sleep all day and the kids want to play. What can you do to bring the whole family together this Father’s Day? No worries, we are here to help!One of the best ways to show dad some love and appreciation is to take them out on the town. Here are some fun activities that the whole family can do together this Father’s Day weekend:

Museum of Fine Art Houston (Free for Dads!)

Share a day of art! On Sunday, June 17, fathers and grandfathers receive complimentary admission to all displays and exhibitions, including the two ticketed exhibitions: Peacock in the Desert: The Royal Arts of Jodhpur, India and Michelangelo and the Vatican: Masterworks from the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte, NaplesNo reservations necessary—simply drop in to take advantage of this special, on-site offer. Dad’s Day 5K & 1K Family Fun Run

What better way to celebrate Dad than running or walking in the annual Dad’s Day 5K, 3K and 1K Kids Walk benefiting Tex Us TOO!  We call it saving the males! The race features a timed 5K race, a 3K fun run/walk and 1K kids run. Adult participants receive a gender specific, dry fit style race shirt and can enjoy post race refreshments from Randall’s Supermarket. Kids in the 1K receive a superhero cape and a finisher medal. Texas Taco Mania 

Spend Father’s Day Sunday trying out tacos, listening to live music, browsing craft booths and more at Houston’s Bayou City Event Center. The Coalition of Hispanics for Excellence In Technology & Art (CHEITA) hosts this all-day festival, benefiting the city’s cultural arts programs, which is set to include a specialty food trucks, live music from Handsome Beast, art booths, a classic car show and a kids’ area for the little ones.

Kayak with Dad at Kinder Lake

Everyone love a day at the park, especially at Houston’s beautiful Discovery Green park. Discovery Green has recently re-opened their lake just in time for the summer season. You can sit by lake and just enjoy the view or even rent an electric RC boat. Visitors can also kayak on the lake. Kayak rides are only $5 per person for 15 minute ride and will be available to 11am – 7pm on Sunday. Click here for more information and park hours.

Father’s Day Fried Chicken Fest 

Join this Father’s Day  fried chicken parking lot party! Hosted by the Revival Market in The Heights, this event will feature live music from the Will Van Horn Trio, beer from Spindletap and games for the whole family!

Daddy & Me Paint Party (All Ages!)

Paint your heART out this Father’s Day and come join us a Painting with a Twist. We will have various classes available all Father’s Day weekend for all ages including daddy & daughter sets, date night, wood cut out art, and more! We will are also having a buy one get one free special all Father’s Day for all of our studios (Westheimer, Midtown, The Heights, Katy, Sugar Land, Cypress, Memorial). Come create a custom painting to gift to Dad or come paint with your Dad, either way the whole family will have a good time.
